Unemployment Rate 2.1 Percent for College Grads, 3.9 Percent for High School Grads in August 2018

Among people age 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or more, the unemployment rate was 2.1 percent in August 2018, compared with 2.4 percent a year earlier. The national unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in August 2018, down from 4.4 percent in August 2017. (The national unemployment rate applies to people age 16 and over.)

For people with some college or an associate degree, the unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in August 2018 and 3.8 percent a year earlier.

Among workers age 25 and older who graduated high school but did not attend college, the unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in August 2018, down from 5.0 percent a year earlier.

For workers with less than a high school diploma, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent in August 2018 and 6.2 percent in August 2017.
