Description

We are a leading manufacturer of cargo tie downs and load securement systems for the heavy duty truck trailer transportation industry.

We are seeking an outside sales representative to fill an opening in a well-established sales territory. As a regional sales executive, you will need a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, or a minimum of 5 years industrial/manufacturing sales experience.

This Regional Sales Executive should be located in the Midwestern United States and will cover the Midwest territory.  The position will have an expected travel of 50%.

As a Regional Sales Executive, you will need characteristics which includes being personal, professional, self-starting and commitment driven with accountability to high levels of customer service and a proven track record of profitable sales growth.

Exceptional organizational skills as well as a high proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point are critical.  Strong business orientation and problem/cost analysis is required.

Requirements   

The Regional Sales Executive will need the following requirements:

  • Bachelor degree preferred, however, all candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years in industrial/manufacturing sales experience.
  • Ability to travel 50%.

Position Description – Prepares, manages and executes the OEM Account Plan in alignment with achieving the Department’s vision of becoming the premiere component supplier to the respective OEM/OESs, increasing revenue and market share, thereby ensuring long term and profitable growth for the Company.

Required Skills –

Qualification 1: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.

Qualification 2: Five or more years of related training and experience in sales of industry related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualification 3: Strong communication skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations.

  • Application engineering experience is preferred but not required.

Qualification 5: Sales Skills:

  • A well-developed understanding of effective selling skills and the ability to employ them to secure business.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and sell at a variety of levels – dealers and fleets, OEM/OES marketing, product planning, engineering and purchasing functions.
  • Strategic selling – the ability to learn and understand the decision process and decision points in complex organizations, develop an effective plan to address these considerations, and execute the plan.

Qualification 6: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Qualification 7: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Qualification 8: Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Qualification 9: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Job Location – Field – Travel required, including overnight. Up to 40-50%.

In this remote position you will act as the Regional Sales Manager is to retain and grow the Safe Fleet solid waste, demolition, scrap, and recycling markets in the respective territory and target fleet accounts. Accounts will include the OEM Body Manufacturer’s (dump bodies, roll-off’s, hook lifts, luggers, trailers, etc.), Distributor Upfitters partners that serve the industry, and the assigned Regional and National Fleets (private and for-hire). Responsibilities include creating value and new application opportunities with existing customers as well as building relationships and cultivating new business with target customers. Additionally, the RSM is tasked to achieve profitable revenue growth by meeting agreed upon sales targets, adding new customers, and selling newly developed Safe Fleet products and safety solutions. This critical position will be required to interface extensively with Safe Fleet sales, product management, marketing, customer service, operations, and the entire Safe Fleet leadership team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales and profitable growth above current and target levels within assigned territory, accounts, and markets segments by effectively selling Safe Fleet products and services to Construction, Ag, Solid Waste, Demolition, Scrap & Recycling Fleets, Dealers, and OEMs.
  • Develop and continuously refine a sales funnel pipeline (Salesforce Effectiveness) and revenue forecast via Safesforce.com for the territory to support business unit forecasting, the sales inventory, and Operations planning (SIOP) process.
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported via on-going visits to current customers and prospects.
  • Drive sales growth to the O.E.M.’s, Up-fitters, Distributors, and small to large regional fleets.
  • Prospect and develop new customers, including cold calling, conducting client introductions, face-to-face client meetings, and Go-to-Meetings conferences.

Regional Sales Manager

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Regional Sales Manager oversees the marketing, sales and service functions for all assigned customers and customer channels associated within a specific geographical region.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

Position reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  Regional Sales Manager will interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing organization, manufacturer’s representatives and their agencies, in addition to external customers and prospects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the administration, sales and marketing for all assigned customers and customer channels on a regional basis.
  • Manages the sales agencies in their respective regions in accordance with the Sales Department’s guidelines and Peterson’s customer service philosophy. This includes OEMs, distributors, retail outlets, specialty and end-user customers.
  • Keeps abreast of competitive activities within the region (e.g., introduction of new products, pricing changes, and sales promotions) and keeps the Vice President of Sales and Marketing informed of same.
  • Recommends product modifications, new products, packaging requirements, pricing, etc. to fulfill company objectives and properly serve the market demands within the assigned region.
  • Prepares quotes, proposals and other pertinent sales documents as they pertain to the appropriate sales process(es).
  • Trains field representatives in product familiarization, application and sales as well as service techniques and processes.
  • Coordinates the handling of technical inquiries through Engineering and back to the customer.
  • Interprets sales and marketing data to determine which field representatives/agencies, sales and marketing techniques are most effective and why.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the development of sales strategies and market development within the assigned region.
  • Monitors and manages the performance of all assigned channels within a region and initiates actions when necessary to address areas where improvement is required.
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitive pressures.
  • Works closely with Sales Agencies, Directors of Heavy-Duty Sales and other Peterson associates to identify major sales opportunities and to coordinate activities in support of initiatives.
  • Attends trade meetings, industry conventions and other functions as assigned.
  • Plans and implements competitive changeovers/lifts, determines the disposition of inventories, and establishes stocking inventories for new accounts.
  • Reviews and approves requests for returned goods to ensure conformance to company policy.
  • Responds to all correspondence, including sales and service calls related to the region that cannot be handled by Customer Service.
  • Approves credit requests from customers within an assigned region.
  • Accepts incoming telephone sales orders when Customer Service personnel are unable to provide support.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Successful experience in building strong customer relationships and consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized self-starter with a keen ability to identify and support customer’s needs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to quickly gain a broad understanding of company products and services
  • Have the ability to read and understand product drawings and electrical schematics necessary to the application of Peterson and Maxi-Seal products and communicate same to customer(s).
  • Have an above average mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand the application of the vehicle(s) the company’s products are applied to.
  • Have knowledge of all aspects of the commercial vehicle transportation market.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A. or B.S., or equivalent, with emphasis in sales/marketing preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales/marketing
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other necessary software products

ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO,; home office; and at customer locations within designated territory.
  • Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time via airplane and/or car within assigned territory, travel to trade shows or to perform other assigned activities as necessary
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, use stairs or elevators to access offices on other floors of a building, and have the ability to be stationary up to 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others (internal and external) who may have various inquiries, etc.  Must be able to clearly articulate and exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane and/or car within the United States and on occasion to foreign countries, as business dictates. Frequent overnight stays required.
  • Must have the physical ability to climb on, around or under the vehicles the company’s product(s) are applied to.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to the Vice President Sales and Marketing, the purpose of the Sales Manager is to establish and maintain Doepker relationship with customers through dealer principles, dealer personnel, and direct contact while supporting the Marketing and Sales strategies set out by Doepker.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction in conjunction with Doepker and dealer success
  • Provide dealer support for sales, product training, quotation of product and marketing of Doepker products
  • Provide information, train, and implement Doepker’s parts plan to dealers and their sales staff
  • Ensure that the dealership sales staff are motivated and proud to sell Doepker products
  • Interact with dealership personnel as well as customers to ensure Doepker’s mission and vision statements are carried out
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to supply critical information for price books, advertising and product information
  • Work closely with the Warranty & Service Departments to help organize and maintain the level of quality and service expected by Doepker’s customers and dealers
  • Provide valuable information back to Doepker in regards to market analysis and dealer productivity to establish accurate, short-term and long-term forecasting

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or Marketing
  • Computer and business management experience is an asset
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, floor planning and advertising is an asset
  • At least 3 years of retail or wholesale experience would be preferred.

Regional Sales Manager (ND, SD, KS, IA, MN, WI)

Department:              Agriculture Sales

SUMMARY

To promote and sell Shur-Co products by making on-site calls to fleets, dealers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) in the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The right candidate for this position would be located in the territory being served.  No relocation allowance.

 

The successful candidate for this position is a hands-on, supportive professional with direct sales experience in one or more of the following markets: Agriculture, Construction, Flatbed and/or Trailer Sales (either direct or through distribution).  He/she must have experience identifying customers and building relationships with key decision makers within these markets.  Candidates with experience in tarp system or truck/trailer sales will be given top priority.  The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties and other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop yearly business plans specific to the territory
  • Manage existing key accounts (OEMs, Dealers, and Fleets) in the Agriculture market by providing technical support, sales support, and handling customer concerns
  • Identify and establish New Accounts strategically located within the territory by:
    • Evaluating initial qualification
    • Establishing credibility and building rapport
    • Focusing on continuously building the business relationship
  • Solve customer problems
  • Perform product, installation, and maintenance training for customers as applicable
  • Identify opportunities and communicate with Shur-Co engineering and marketing to qualify and quantify such opportunities
  • Represent Shur-Co at key industry trade shows including regional farm shows, truck shows, and other regional association shows as necessary
  • Weekly & Monthly reporting of activity and performance using the company’s CRM tools and available sales reporting software packages
  • Prioritization of travel schedule, coordinating as necessary with branch, regional, and corporate activities
  • Nurture internal working relationships with Shur-Co engineering, customer service, accounting and manufacturing
  • Productive travel within the territory expected to be 50-75% depending on the time of year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BA or BS in a related field (Marketing, Engineering, Business) or 3-year minimum equivalent industry sales experience
  • Experience successfully managing multiple key accounts in the Ag, Construction, Flatbed or Truck/Trailer market(s)
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and translate into product needs and/or configurations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to perform sales responsibilities over the phone and by videoconferencing (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CRM and e-commerce platforms
  • Formal Sales Training a plus
