The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 8.3% from August 2020 to August 2021, the largest over-the-year advance since 12-month changes were first calculated in November 2010. Prices for goods rose 12.6% over the year ended August 2021, while prices for services rose 6.4%.
For the 12 months ended in August, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 6.3%, the largest advance since 12-month data were first calculated in August 2014.
