May 2015 U.S.-NAFTA Freight Totaled $92.7 Billion

The value of U.S.-NAFTA freight totaled $92.7 billion in May 2015 as all modes carried less U.S.-NAFTA freight than in May 2014, according to the TransBorder Freight Data released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). Year-over-year, the value of U.S.-NAFTA freight flows by all modes decreased by 10.8 percent. Large decreases in the value of NAFTA trade by pipeline and vessel in May were due to the reduced unit price of mineral fuel shipments. A recession in Canada likely contributed to the double digit decrease of U.S.-NAFTA freight flows.

M&K Truck Centers Celebrates Grand Opening

M&K Truck Centers welcomed more than 300 guests last week to their official grand opening for the newest dealership in Des Plaines, IL. The public was invited to tour the facility at 901 West Oakton St., have lunch, and meet the staff for the Chicago area. The half-day event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce members to help welcome M&K to the area.

Bureau of Transportation Statistics Releases Highway Crash Data

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics released the 2015 edition of the National Transportation Atlas Databases (NTAD) this week. The NTAD is a compilation of datasets representing the nation’s transportation infrastructure including more than 500,000 miles of roadway, over 610,000 bridges, and 19,527 airports.
